What to do while I'm down there
I plan to install a Rough Country suspension lift in June when I have some family in town that can help. While reading over the instructions from their website I got to thinking, should I go ahead and replace some things while I'm taking things apart? So for a truck with 113k miles on it, what kind of things do you suggest I consider replacing while I've got it apart? Tierods? CVs? control arms? I don't want to add too much extra expense, but I would like to take care of any problem areas before they bite me down the road.

ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, sway bar end links

sway bar end links are probably going to be replaced when he does the lift. atleast mine were.

Agree with above and If you have time clean it up a little. paint the sway bar, control arms, springs if you reuse them, rear end, frame if needed, etc things like that that are going to be exposed more because of the lift. should also be easier to wash, last longer, look better, etc.
Use whatever you see fit- from a rust paint from your local hardware store to por-15. Do some research. Good luck and remember to post pics. |
Thanks for the suggestions.
