My truck won't burnout anymore
I have 2002 ford f-150 4dr lariat 4x4 w/ 186,000miles. The truck still runs great never had any major problems. Still got the stock transmission nothing wrong with it. I remember when the truck had 70,000miles and ud tap the gas peddle and all it did was want to burn out. Now i can't at all only in grass. What do i need todo to get that torque back?

tune up? change plugs, fuel filter, clean intake, etc.

First of all, what are you yelling about? Easy on the all caps there...makes your post hard to read. Now that I think about it, your post being hard to read might not be a bad thing and is obviously the least of the issues I see here. So carry on, good sir. :coffee:
Now, to the crux of your question (I think). Is this loss of power a sudden change or has it happened over time? Methinks that particular engine (which was never really known as a powerhouse) with 186K miles on it just might be part of the problem. Jethro, please tell me you're serious about the only time it will spin out is in the grass. It's at that precise moment when reading your post that most people on here would hope you were kidding. Not me. Oh, the day-making images that flooded my brain: After watching their NASCAR hero perform a victory burnout in the grass, Jethro, Bubba and Cletus headed out to the front yard to imitate the act in their pick-em-up trucks. Bubba exclaims, "Boys! Yuns don't know nuttin' 'bout peelin' rubber! Watch 'is here!" He climbs in through the window of his El Camino and power-brakes it until the steel belts in the tires violently flail against his curb feelers. Afterward, Bubba erupts in a hearty belch and a "YEEHAW" that could be heard 4 outhouses away. Not satisfied and through his pronounced hair-lip, Cletus speaks up. "Shucksch, Bubber! Ye ain't scheen nufin'. Geet outta ma way!" Cletus, with mouth agape (did I mention he's hair-lipped) and back fully humped, bow-legs his way to his pride and joy: a 1984 Chebbie Camaro. He takes a good-luck sip o' suds, and flings the empty bottle through the window into the street where it breaks into hundreds of pieces. He tromps the throttle, more smoke pours from his stack pipes than from his tires, and through the blaring T.G. Sheppard, Cletus can be heard cussing a hair-lipped blue streak. Seeing the broken beer bottle littered street and knowing that his F-150 will no longer accomplish a respectable burnout on anything but grass, Jethro seizes the opportunity to use that as the perfect excuse to bow out of the little contest. "Hell far, fellers! I would jine in yer lil burnout game, but I jist got ees hure fayncy high dollar recaps off'n craygslist. I sure wuld hate ta rurn 'em right off'n tha bat!" Noticing that each of his friends hand at least a finger in an orifice, Jethro sees that his buddies were barely even cognizant that he was speaking and was struck with the absolute most brilliant idea of his life (seriously!). He cried, "Hey fellers! I dun gots me a gud idear!! How's 'bout I take ol' Betsy and spin out in da grayss jes like 'at yungun Trevor Bayne jes dun?" Of course, all the men enthusiastically agreed, and the rest, as they say, is history. I'm not positive, but I just about bet you that's how you came to know that the only place you can still pull off a burnout is in the grass, right? :lol: All in fun, Jethro...all in fun. :thumbsup: |

Search on here on adjusting the throttle cable down by the peddle. I know on my 97F150 I did this and it make a huge difference. When I got my 99F150 I checked the play in the cable down by the pedal and it too had a lot of slack. I fixed that as well.
Do the things above as mentioned and try the cable adjustment. |

Because I have a 98 5.4 with 160,000 and touching the pedal the truck starts spinning. |
