Stupid question

I just picked up a 97 F150 super cab XLT yesterday, and the dealer said it has a problem with the reverse cargo light. I cant seem to figure out what the problem is. The cargo lights works when the door is open, but not when in reverse. Is it even supposed to come on when in reverse??

No. Only when the doors are open and maybe when you put the light dimmer on 'dome' . when you put your inside light(s) on, check to see if your cargo lights are on.

Is your reverse lights in the taillights working?

LOL!! what a waste of time.. I want to run over my mechanic right now.

Thanks for the quick reply!

 So I assume your reverse lights do work?

KylerG 08-14-2010 06:11 PM

Yeah, they are somewhat working.. I had to wiggle the bulbs around to get them to turn on. Looks like I might need a new bulb harness.

take the bulbs out and spread the little wire contacts first before you go spending money. take a really small screwdriver and inside the socket you should see the metal contacts. Bend them in just a little too for the most optimal contact. Then see how they work

Good call. I just bought new bulbs and that seems to have fixed the problem.

 .. :beers: .. teamwork :D

More serious problems, but could still be considered a stupid question.

Would you have any idea what would make a noise similar to a washing machine spin cycle? Happens at 120km/h or 75mph while going up a hill in overdrive around 2200 RPM. The sound is coming from the front floor boards.

Try going from side to side with the wheel. If it worsens and quiets down by rocking the steering wheel then you're probably looking at a wheel bearing.

Where abouts in Ontario are you?

KylerG 08-23-2010 09:30 AM

Alright, I'll check that out tonight. I think you might be right about the wheel bearing. I'm also getting a rattle from the front passenger tire that resembles a chain dragging. My girlfriend thinks it sounds like santa clause..lmao. BTW im from Thunder Bay.
