WOW 300,000 miles
I was talking to my buddy the other day about his truck a 99 f 150. He was mentioning to me he just turned over 300,000 miles on it. The crazy thing about this hes never done anything to the truck other then normal maintenance. Original tranny an engine. I said hows it running he said great. He runs a lawn service an snow removal in the winter so his truck is going every day pulling a trailer full off equipment. An then traveling 50-60 miles to various towns. i said that is one incredible truck. He said he said its a Ford there reliable. Just had to tell you guys about this. He maintains his truck but its used hard as well.

I'm planning to keep mine much longer than that. When I do buy a newer truck, I'm going to keep my 97. It's at 204000 now. When it quits someday, I plan to rebuild it with a few more mods. I think I've decided to keep the 4.6 instead of the 5.4 swap I had planned.
I'll just cam it mildly, and go with the PI heads and intake. I really just want it to sound good and look sharp.
I'll buy me a DD when they make another body stile I like, because I just don't like the ones they are making right now as well.

Call me crazy, but I have a 2010 Lariat with 600 miles on it in the garage, yet I still drive my 97 Lariat every day as my daily driver. It has 214.000 miles on it, it's 5.4 4X4 and still all original. It has been serviced every 3-4 thousand miles since new and the only mechanical work has been shocks a few years ago and the front ball joints, and that was just done last week. I plan to drive it a few more years, I'm sure it will make it.

Tell your buddy he won the lottery. A statistically insignificant number of vehicles achieve that type of track record.
I have yet to own a vehicle from ford or chevy that makes it to 80,000 miles without something breaking. Water pumps, radiators, transmissions, fuel pumps, window motors, blown spark plugs, you name it...and I take good care of my stuff.
I don't think I even know anybody who has had one go 100,000 without something important breaking.
I hope I own one like that before I die...but time is running out.

Thanks guys. I have been fortunate as well. Drove all my Fords well over 100,000 miles with few problems. Havent left me stranded yet. Build quality is outstanding. Built to last. Take a lickin an keep on tickin like the timex watch commercial. Still firmly believe nobody makes a truck like Ford does.

I found out the hard way to never brag to much about your truck, I just posted Sunday how great my truck was doing at 214,000 miles, then Monday morning 120 miles from home I lost a coil pack, but I did drive it home, had a new coil installed and new plugs while it was in the shop, runs great now, just a little embarrassed.

2003 F150 SuperCrewcab w/ 299,000 miles
Just bought this. 296,000 miles (got a good deal on it). Mechanic says it has original motor and tranny, and looks to him like nothing has been done underneath.
Bought new front end stuff (control arms, ball joints, etc.), front hubs, and new brakes & rotors all around.
Nothing sounds off, no motor noises, no clanking, no rubbing, etc.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on anything else I should look at/replace.
Thank you!

Good looking truck. I would check the coolant and transmission fluid, maybe have then flushed.
