Looks awesome!

Looks real sharp! With the PTM surround and honeycomb grille it doesn't have that 'work truck' XL look anymore!

c_ulater 11-22-2009 01:55 PM

Nice. Changes the look of the truck

Patman 11-22-2009 02:00 PM

migdaddy 11-22-2009 09:27 PM

haha are u sure thats the same truck? definately a huge change! side views, grille, valance, lights, etc.

bohnman 11-23-2009 10:43 AM

How do you mount the driving lights behing the grill? That looks cool.

alex7191 11-23-2009 04:26 PM

i stand corrected. the lightning heads look great!

fairlaner 11-23-2009 10:55 PM

Thanks for all the kind comments!:beers:

I think they look pretty good ... I'm trying to decide if I'll keep the orange corner bulbs or get chrome ones (I kind of like the color the orange bulbs give the corner).

I cheated on the before shot as it was taken when I first got my truck in '06. I'd forgotten some of the changes I'd made!

Patman, my truck is a XL 4X4 ... I'm not sure I've seen a XL 4X4 with foglights.

4wd150, I got the lights on ebay. They're not the cheapest available, but they seem pretty well made and they installed with no problems.

bohnman, I did a short write-up on installing foglights behind the grill on a '99-'03 ... https://www.f150online.com/forums/19...ind-grill.html

What kind of rims are those? They look sharp. The truck is coming together real nice now, congrats.

fairlaner 11-23-2009 11:51 PM

Rims are stock 16" Expy rims ... I painted the edges of the openings and the inside of the rims black to change the look of them a little.

I'm not fan of the corners...

expedition4x4 11-24-2009 12:17 PM

I think you should move the the lights behind the grille up a little to be leveled with the lightning lights, the corners look okay, but I think I'm with tarajerame... maybe some orange/amber corner lamps would of looked better

bohnman 11-24-2009 04:21 PM

Thanks I bookmarked it. You can never have too much light.

dirtyd88 11-24-2009 04:46 PM

My goal in installing the grill lights was to have them slightly above center (vertically) in the grill. I must of screwed up my measurements as they ended up slightly lower than centered (something that wasn't obvious until I installed the grill at the end of the project). I'll move them up someday when I get a little extra time.

If I remember correctly, tarajerame was the guy who suggested using the stock corner lights w/ the lightning heads in a previous thread ... I'll have to try that out and see how it looks.
