It Happened
Argh:mad:it happened today, blew a plug, just thinking of getting the plugs changed last week:mad:
Oh man that sucks. Time for some helicoils.
Changed my plugs at 100K and I'm at 160K now. What causes them to blow out?
Should I change them out again? I'd do it more often, but what a PITA! |
At the dealer, yep i guess they have a insert, sounds like a old John Deere A when it happened
Yeah that happened to me about a month ago. Sounds like hell when it happens.
What causes them to blow out is the use of antiseize and using the factory torque specs. Use only Motorcraft plugs, put them in DRY and torque them to 28 ft/lb.
You do *NOT* want a Helicoil - the only do-it-yourself insert that truly works is a Timesert. www.blownoutsparkplug.com - that is the RIGHT way to do it, but it's quite costly. |
