How to: tow mirrors 97-03 supercrew f-150
I looked high and low to find tow mirrors for my 02 supercrew and could find none so this is what i did. I cant post in the how to forum section so here it is.
Things you will need: dremel, scissors, printer paper, pencil, tape, heat mold able plastic (i used a garbage can), 7/16 deep socket, sand paper or bench grinder, heat gun, tow mirrors for any 97-03 f-150.
step one is to remove you door panel and mirrors. to remove mirrors use the 7/16 socket.
step two is to tape together two pieces of printer paper, trace your mirror base on to them, and cut it out. one side of the paper will be driver and flip it over for the passenger.
step three is to then trace that on to your plastic and cut that out with your dremel.
step four is to then use sand paper or a grinder to smooth out the edges.
you can now set aside the plastic pieces
step 5 is to dremel out the existing mirror holes so the new mirrors will fit.
step six is to tape your plastics where you want them and mark the new holes from the back.
step seven is to dremel or drill out the holes you marked large enough to slide as far down on the mirror bolts as possible.
step seven is to remove the foam from the back of your mirror, place the plastic on then put the foam back on.
step 8 is to put the mirrors and door panels back on.
step nine is the final step. use a heat gun or hair dryer to mold the plastic so that it fits well on the truck.
I hope this helps some of yall out a little. it is not perfect but at least you can see what your hauling!
