1715 installed still a couple of ????
I just installed a 1715 tuner. I got it used it was made 8/15/03
should this tuner have one program or three. after the stock was saved it asked if i wanted to used superchips tune, i pushed yes then it started the load. It didn't ask if which tune I wanted. I asumed that this unit is only good for the one program.
If it is a one program unit how much can i tow with it. Do I have to use 91 octane fuel.

You have the oldest version single-program unit that REQUIRES the use of ONLY the highest quality PREMIUM gasolines - you cannot *ever* run anything less than the best 91-93 octane fuels in it, and it is a towing-compatible tune.
the 3 program units came out 1 month AFTER your unit was built, and no doubt that is why the owner was anxious to get rid of it, so he could get into a lot more flexible and powerful product.
It does OK for what it is, just don't expect much out of it compared to what our tuning does.
One tip - bump the 2-3 shift point up *exactly* 2 notches above the centerline, the standard Superchip settings - and leave all the other shift points and shift firmness levels ALONE.
Then just use it until you are ready to get into something more appropriate.
By the way, for any other questions, please learn to use the SEARCH feature here, that's why it is provided, so you can look up anything you want to know instantly, Anything anyone could ever possibly want to know about that unit has already been asked & answered literally thousands of times by me personally - so just learn to use the SEARCH feature to look up your answers, it's all there - anyone who says they can't find this, or they can't find that, etc., that immediately tells you that they are not actually making a real effort, and that all they need to do is simply spend a little time learning how to use the excellent and powerful search filters, and they can find *anything* virtually instantly - including this and all your other questions about that 1715. Just FYI so you'll know, OK?

I have a little one on the way in three weeks so my $$$ has to go for more important things (the importance depends on who you ask-JK

Hopefuly things will fall into place and I can get the real perf. parts that i would like. only time will tell.
