THE WEBMASTER'S TRUCK IS FOR SALE! |
|
Yes, the truck that started it all is for sale. After five years, I have decided to upgrade to a 2003 Supercrew. Since I do not believe that a dealer will give me what it is worth, I figured trying to sell it on F150online would make much more sense. If you would like to see more pictures of my truck, please visit its F150online Photo Gallery. Here are the important details... |

THE FACTORY STUFF |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
This truck was originally leased by "webmaster" in November 1996 and I have been the only owner. It just turned 69,000 miles on 03/01/03. With the exception of a couple of unobtrusive nicks in the paint (just ordinary wear), the body is excellent condition. Mechanically, the truck is flawless. This truck has never been used like a pickup is built to be used and it has spent its past two years garaged. I have put, on average, around 12000 miles per year on the odometer driving the streets and highways of Atlanta. It has been regularly washed, inside and out, by Sandy Springs Carwash. As noted on its Ownersite.com Window Sticker, I have every receipt (including original window sticker), including fuel, oil change, tires, maintenance and accessories. The rear tires (Dunlop Radial Rover A/T's) are brand new (the fronts have about 10,000 miles on them) and the truck just recently passed Georgia emissions with flying colors. (09/25/02) It is also up to date on all factory recalls. It will be getting its oil changed this weekend, something that has always been done, on average, every 3800 miles. For a complete list of factory installed options, please view the truck's original window sticker. (this is a large image, 221k, and it will open in a new window) | |||||||||||||||||||||||

THE AFTERMARKET STUFF |
There have been a few performance and appearance enhancing items added to my truck. These include an Airaid FIPK, Hypertech Chip (also have a Superchip), Gibson Exhaust, Clear Corner Lenses, Avital Alarm, Alpine CD Head Unit, Bedliner, Deflect-Shield, Soft Tonneau, etc. The complete list (I think) is below. With many of the items, I still have the original (factory) items they replaced, if that is your preference. These include the factory exhaust system, stock lenses, head unit and airbox. |

SO, WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT? |
|
Ok, this is a used vehicle and because it is a used vehicle, it is not perfect. Like many 1997 F-150's this truck has exhibited a few of the common problems associated with this model. These problems include a small door crack (only on the driver's side) and a leaking sliding rear window in heavy downpours. Though it is the 5.4l engine, it has NOT experienced piston slap. Recent maintenance includes new brake hardware (calipers, drums, shoes, pads, rear cylinders) all around, a new windshield (cracked recently by a rock thrown up from the road by a dumptruck) a new Sears Die Hard battery and Bosch wiper blades. |
SO, WHY ARE YOU SELLING IT? |
|
Simply stated, it is time to move on. With today's low financing rates, we are looking seriously at replacing it in the garage with a new Supercrew. In all honesty, we cannot afford more than one vehicle payment (and my Wife hates to drive the truck anyway), so I have to sell it before considering something new. The dealer would never give me what it is really worth as a trade-in and it is more valuable to a knowledgable and interested party on the F150online website. So, that leads to the next logical question... |
SO, HOW MUCH ARE YOU ASKING FOR IT? |
|
Ahh, there is the magical question. While I don't have a fixed asking price, I have considered its relatively low mileage, aftermarket accessories, overall condition and the following sources when estimating its value (figures from May 2002):
Based on the generic value estimates listed above, which do not take into account the aftermarket performance and appearance items installed on the truck, I AM WILLING TO ENTERTAIN ALL SERIOUS OFFERS. As noted above, the truck is located in the Atlanta, GA area. I am willing to deliver the truck within a couple hundred miles of my home if necessary.
