Rat Rods and Restomods are the hot thing in the automotive world today, combining the reliability and driveability of new trucks with the untouched, classic styling of yesterday.  It’s really a perfect combination of the best of both worlds, and most people don’t mind a little bit of rust or patina in place of a show quality paint job.

While there are a ton of these types of trucks running around these days, this 1966 F-100 that surfaced online a while back might be the best of the best.  Like most Rat Rods, it was rescued from a farm, and the exterior still looks that way – save for the 20″ wheels (with the original hub caps!)  and the low stance which comes courtesy of an air ride setup.

But the exterior is where the patina begins and ends.  The interior is clean as a whistle, with custom stitching that pays homage to the original design.  The best part about this truck (aside from it’s looks of course) resides under the hood, however – where a ProCharged 351 Windsor resides.  The blown small block is backed up by a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission for easy cruising.

So while some guys like their trucks show quality and others like them original, there are plenty of people who prefer a little of both.  For those who like to live on the edge a little, this ’66 represents the pinnacle of the Rat Rod movement.
