2018 F-150 Raptor safety recall

Issue affects Raptor, F-650, F-750, and F-150 Super Duty trucks in North America due to possible missing rivets in roof structure.

Ford has released two minor safety recalls and a safety compliance for F series owners. At the time of this post, Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with these issues.

A handful of 2018 F-150 Raptor SuperCab non-moonroof trucks, 42 to be exact, in North America may be missing rivets in the roof structure. This is an issue that may reduce the structural integrity of the roof in a rollover accident. The trucks with this issue were built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant, June 8, 2017 to Aug. 21, 2017. If your truck is missing these rivets, Ford will add them at no cost to you. Check with your dealer to confirm if your Raptor is part of the safety recall.

Welding penetration is the cause of the safety compliance recall on 2017 F-150 and Super Duty trucks. A seat belt buckle attachment bracket on the manual front passenger seats may have insufficient weld penetration. In the event of an accident the weld could break increasing the risk of injury. Ford will replace the seat track at no cost. Ford states approximately 624 trucks may be faulty.

  • Affected vehicles include:
    • 2017 Ford F-150 built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, Nov. 2-3, 2016
    • 2017 Ford F-150 built at Kansas City Assembly Plant, Nov. 4-7, 2016
    • 2017 Ford Super Duty built at Kentucky Assembly Plant, Nov. 2, 2016 to June 4, 2017
    • 2017 Ford Super Duty built at Ohio Assembly Plant, Nov. 7-21, 2016

Torquing bolts and replacing cotter pins is the fix for 2015 F-650 and F-750 owners. Roughly 77 trucks suffer from possible insufficient torquing of the castellated nuts at the tie rod ends. This minor safety recall could potentially leave you with a loss of steering control. Your local dealer will check and tighten the castellated nuts and replace the cotter pins at no cost to you. Affected vehicles include 2015 F-650 and F-750 vehicles built at Escobedo Assembly Plant, March 4, 2015 to April 27, 2015.
