Rumormill: F-100/Ranger Revival in the Cards?

Since ford has gotten rid of the Ranger, there has been a serious dearth of options for lovers of small trucks. There’s the Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier, sure, but if you wanted to buy a domestic small truck, your options are limited to GM’s Colorado. Ford says most former Ranger owners are willing to make the swap up to V6 F-150. That might be true, but something tells me that there are plenty of people who prefer the return of the Ranger over buying the bigger F-150.

Would you be interested in a new Ranger if Ford brought it back? I suspect that if it were significantly smaller than the F-150 and available with a four cylinder, it would take off in areas where having a full-size truck is unnecessary. I wouldn’t expect to see themĀ mudbogging any time soon, but it would make a great car for people who need to carry bulky objects occasionally, while doubling as an effective commuter.

They wouldn’t even have to call it the Ranger. The F-100 would work just fine as well. What do you think?

How cool would a new Ranger/F-100 be?
