Motor Trend Pits Cheap Old Trucks Against Each Other in Off-Road Battle

What do a ’78 F-150, a ’93 Landcruiser, and an ’89 Jeep Cherokee have in common? You can turn all four of them into off-road beasts with a measly four grand. Alright, “beasts” might be a bit of an exaggeration, but they’re definitely a low cost way to get lost in the wilderness.

This is one of my favorite Motor Trend features of late. No, it’s not because of the fake mullets. Mostly, it’s because there’s always so much focus on what’s new and trendy in the automotive world. Yeah, the Raptor is a great truck and all, but how many of us are REALLY going to pony up for a road going trophy truck? The trucks here are attainable, the challenges are realistic (kinda), and the result is a super entertaining video.
