Ford Raptor Vs. Shelby F-150, Which Is Better?

By -

When it comes to high-performance Ford trucks, the Raptor is not the only option.

Ford is rightly very proud of its new Raptor, but Shelby has been offering go-fast versions of different Fords for decades. One of the latest creations to wear the Shelby name is the limited-edition Shelby F-150, a truck that packs a supercharged V8 with 700 horsepower. So, which truck is the better option? Should you get Ford’s off-road monster with its twin-turbo V6, or would a supercharged 5.0L V8 sway you to team Shelby?

The Straight Pipes on YouTube got to spend the day with both of these trucks, and then they tried to pick a winner. The duo’s review style is a little absurd, but they do a pretty good job of covering almost every major piece of these trucks that buyers would be looking at, from performance to style.

They do badge counts to show how much branding each truck is covered in, they compare the way the chrome headlights look versus the blacked out ones, and then they spend a lot of time driving around town talking about how much fun 700 hp is. As a side note, if you are a fan of supercharger wine, make sure your volume is cranked. There is plenty of that glorious howl all through this video.

The camera work feels a little frantic, and it’s obvious the video is aimed at a younger crowd, but we still think it’s worth a watch.

In the end, we don’t get a super-great conclusion. Both would rather own the Raptor, but they can’t help but love the Shelby. We think we agree. We also love their suggestion of just having Shelby build you a Raptor, but with that blown Coyote V8 under the hood instead of the EcoBoost. Take the best of both worlds.
