Ford F-150 Raptor Snags Another ‘Best Pickup’ Award

Over two grueling days of testing, Raptor bests 26 competitors, including crossovers, SUVs and other pickups.

The awards continue to pile up for one of our all-time favorite Ford trucks, the F-150 Raptor. The 2017 Raptor drove away with top truck honors in the Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year Mudfest. The “Best Pickup” award comes after a panel of 28 members of the Northwest Automotive Press Association at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Wash. drove the pickup over two days and, as you’d expect, put the truck through a series of grueling tests, which included both on- and off-road courses.

Beating the competition wasn’t an easy task either, as the Raptor beat 26 other vehicles, including SUVs, crossovers, and pickup trucks. The pickup truck category, though, was especially cutthroat.

“The pickups category was extremely tough this year,” says Tuan Huynh, Mudfest’s event chair. “Ford F-150 Raptor won the hearts of our members for its prowess both on-road and off over two days of rigorous testing.”

The Raptor’s latest award is another one that Ford can add onto its already lengthy list of accolades for the mighty pickup. The pickup was previously named “Truck of the Year” by Popular Mechanics and Auto Guide and “Pickup Truck of the Year” by Four Wheeler. Additionally, it was also recognized by Autotrader with its Must Test Drive Award.

That’s a long list of awards for one vehicle. But the Raptor, with its 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, upgraded suspension components from Fox, and bespoke BF Goodrich KO2 tires is a monster at off-roading and surprisingly comfortable while doing regular tasks, as well. Is this the last award that the Raptor will win? We highly doubt it.
