Ford F-150 Costs Less to Own Than Any Full-Size Pickup
Owning a Ford F-150 will save you some serious coin, in case you needed another reason to buy one!
We’re so used to the Ford F-150 winning awards that it’s often a foregone conclusion. We just expect it to happen. Which somewhat dulls the experience when America’s perennial best-selling truck adds another trophy to it massive case. But while most awards are nice and all, they don’t actually translate to things like dollars in consumer’s pockets.
That isn’t the case with Kelly Blue Book’s annual 5-Year Cost to Own Awards, however. While we might not typically pay much attention to things like total cost of ownership, the vehicle we choose to keep for a number of years can make a huge difference in our bank accounts.
Which is exactly why KBB conducts their annual study, which uses residual values to calculate depreciation cost over a five year period. KBB calculates total ownership costs using a special valuation methodology and third-party financial data. Consideration is given to not only depreciation, but expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees.
And for 2018, the Ford F-150 sports the lowest 5-year cost to own of any full-size pickup. The Chevy Silverado lands in second place, followed by the Toyota Tundra. KBB’s average cost of ownership for Ford’s cash cow came in at $48,362.
As if you really needed another reason to buy a Ford F-150 over any other full-size truck. Not only are you getting a truck that exceeds the competition in virtually every measurable category, it’ll also cost you less money in the long haul. Honestly, it’s hard to believe that anyone would buy a Chevy, Dodge, or Toyota when they’re armed with this information!
