Two enterprising thieves take advantage of a good Samaritan’s heroic actions. But this story has a happy ending!

Without a doubt, car thieves are perhaps the lowest form of scum on this earth. And since the F-Series is such a popular target, many of us have found ourselves unfortunate victims of this heinous act. But as despicable as auto theft is, nothing is lower than stealing a truck from a good Samaritan while he helps those in need. But that’s exactly what happened to off-duty Jacksonville, Florida firefighter Mitchell Johnson and his 2008 Ford F-250 recently.

The former Marine was on his way home when a car crash happened right in front of him. As Johnson told First Coast News, he didn’t even think twice about stopping to help. “I wasn’t thinking about myself,” he said.”I was thinking about how bad are the people in the vehicle? What could their possible injuries be? What can I do to keep them alive long enough until rescue can get there?”

Sadly, while Johnson was tending to the crash victims, two lowlifes jumped in his Ford F-250 and took off. Johnson instinctively took off after the thieves, nearly getting run over in the process. And the entire incident was captured by another driver’s dash cam video!

Thankfully, this story has a happy ending. Johnson’s Ford F-250 was recovered by police just a couple of days later. And we hope that the two thieves get what they deserve. But even though this kind of incident might make anyone think twice about stopping to help ever again, Johnson wasn’t dissuaded one bit.

“It’s disgusting, it’s the lowest thing on earth to do,” he said. But in the same breath, Johnson stated “I would do it again no matter what because I try to treat everybody I go to as I would want to be treated.” Spoken like a true hero!
