If you had any doubts as to how much better the Ford F-150 is than any other truck, this should lay them to rest!

The Ford F-150, America’s perennial best-selling truck, is no stranger to winning big awards. But taking home the gold from an unbiased, independent, and notoriously picky publication like Consumer Reports isn’t exactly an easy task. So, call us impressed, though not surprised, to see the Ford F-150 take home CR’s 10 Top Picks of 2018 award for full-size pickups.

What sets these awards apart from others is the lengths vehicles must go to to score well. Consumer Reports grades them using their own rankings and over 50 real-world tests, of course. But also through over a half-million owner surveys. Road-test performance, owner satisfaction, safety, and reliability form the basis of the overall scores. Testing just doesn’t get much more thorough than that.

Judging by the final outcome, it’s pretty clear that the Ford F-150 passed those extensive tests with flying colors. Consumer Reports calls it an “impressive, innovative workhorse” that “pulls ahead of the pack thanks to its weight-reduction design and turbocharged six-cylinder engine.” They also cite the truck’s “standout” fuel economy, “quick acceleration,” and “effortless towing ability.”
