Sporty Saleen Ford F-150 is One of Only 15 Super Crews and Causes a Bidding Frenzy in Online Auction

Trucks and speed rarely go together, but that never stopped tuners like Saleen from building fast trucks. The super-tuner rolled out a hot version of the Ford F-150 in 2007, looking to satisfy folks who missed the Lightning. Back then, you could get a naturally-aspirated 325 hp S331 or a supercharged 450 hp version.

This 2008 Saleen Ford F-150, which we recently spotted on eBay, is the latter. A two-owner truck that was bought originally as a show vehicle, this one of 15 Super Crew has only 30,000 miles on the odometer. Options include 23-inch wheels and huge 15-inch brakes, as well as (laughably) the tow package.

Saleen had big plans for its hopped-up F-150s, intending to sell around 3,000 per year. But the company put itself up for sale in 2008, and bits and pieces were sold off as research and development ended. Thus, the Saleen F-150 was produced in rather small quantities.

It’s a shame, because this was a very capable truck for its time. The twin-screw supercharger was developed in house, and it was a good one. Peak horsepower was achieved on only 5.5 pounds of boost. And other than injection mapping and a larger aluminum radiator, the 5.4 liter V8 remained stock.

A lot of work went into the suspension as well. Revised shocks, springs and anti-roll bars kept it flat in the corners. The upgraded 15-inch brakes featured slotted calipers and six-piston calipers. All-in-all, it was one impressive package for the mid- to late 2000’s.

For $36,995, this 2008 Saleen F-150 was a real bargain when it recently sold online.
