Owner gives vintage pickup new lease on life as slammed head-turner.

Making the decision to take on a project car is a simple one to make. If you have enough space, time and money, finding a vehicle that’s in decent shape is the most difficult part of the build. A lot of enthusiasts get started on a project car and get overwhelmed by the amount of work or the amount of money it actually takes to get the vehicle on the road. This video, by YouTuber ja89302, showcases a battered old 1972 Ford F-100 pickup that’s well on its way to becoming a beauty.

The truck is mostly untouched on the outside, which is something we find attractive. Its exterior shows a lot of wear throughout the entire body, proving that the truck has been thoroughly enjoyed. But it does have some nice touches, which include staggered Boss 338 wheels and a rear bumper from a Ford Econoline with the exhaust outlet exiting from the center.

And speaking of the exhaust system, it makes an incredible sound, which has a lot to do with what’s hiding underneath the weather hood. The truck features a ’69 Ford 351 cu. in. Windsor engine with a few upgrades. The engine though, as the YouTuber points out, is getting up there in age and will require some more work to get it humming. But it’s running, and running well, which is a victory.

While the exterior and the engine may need some work, the interior is well on its way. The seats, which are gorgeous, are out of a Volkswagen Vanagon — yes, it’s kind of a random vehicle to use for parts, but it works.

The truck has a custom center console with numerous speakers, a Garmin nav unit, and a hidden storage compartment. Is it complete? No, but it’s driving and it definitely looks like a great daily.

There’s still a lot to do on this F-100, but it’s nice to see the owner sticking to Ford components, sorry LSX fan boys. If you’re in the middle of a build and need some motivation or some new ideas, check out the video above.
