“Modernizing” classic Ford trucks is a trend that’s been popular since the advent of the fuel injected V8. Enthusiasts have been shoehorning V8’s from Mustangs and other performance Fords into these trucks for decades now. And now that Ford offers the even more awesome Coyote 5.0 liter V8 in crate form, builders are jumping at the chance to stick them in classic Ford trucks.

Like this beautiful 1968 F-100 build. Proving once again that a little modern technology can indeed make a 60’s Ford the perfect cruiser. It’s evident from this video that a lot of money, effort, and planning went into the build. But the beauty of today’s aftermarket is that there are parts available that make this kind of swap a piece of cake.

In this video, we get a quick overview of some of the details and considerations that went into this particular Coyote swapped F-100. But of course the best part if watching it in motion. And hearing the sweet exhaust music that fuel injected beast of an engine makes. After quite a few testing sessions and some late night beer drinking, the truck slowly comes together.

And then, finally, a proper test drive. We simply can’t get enough of watching the ’68 cruising down the road with some proper throttle manipulation. And with a full 3″ Borla exhaust installed, it sounds even better. So if you’re on the fence about the powertrain choice for your classic Ford truck build, rest assured that swapping in a modern engine is easier than ever. And the results are clearly worth it.
