Like so many notorious "dotcoms" in today's headlines, the floundering Internet Economy has finally taken its toll on us.

As you may have been reading, advertising rates to web publishers have plummeted in 2001. On the surface, this may not seem like a tremendous problem, but we continue to grow each day, drawing record numbers of visitors, which increases our overall operational costs.

The laws of economics said that something had to eventually give. Christine (my incredibly supportive Wife) and I discussed a number of alternatives, including shutting the site down altogether after nearly five years. This, ultimately, was not a viable option.

However, what we did determine was that advertising alone was no longer sufficient to keep us going. I am somewhat saddened to say that my bold (and perhaps arrogant) statements that this site would always be free is no longer true.

Effective tomorrow, April 2nd, F150online will become a subscription-based site. While we will still have some content available for free, the majority will not be, including the message boards.

We also realized that not all of our users access the site the same way, so we have created a tiered system, based on the resources you use. I think that most long time F150online users will find a very low-cost plan that suits their individual needs, without breaking the bank. We have even established credit card and Paypal accounts to make supporting the site as easy as possible for you.

Right now, I know this sounds like a tremendous shock, but it is the only viable solution. I want to thank everybody for their support in helping F150online to grow to what we have become. I am confident that we will be able to continue to grow for many more years and remain the strongest independent enthusiast site on the Internet.
