Post snowplows

I've got a 2001 F150 4x4offroad extended cab. I wanted to get a plow. Does anyone done this to there truck?? Any problems? my front GVW is 3800 pounds. Western plow says i can use a plow tha is 7'2". Would it be in my best interest to upgrade my springs on the front. I dont want to do that if possible because i have a really nice ride to my truck. Thanks

If you can afford it, get an old beater for snow. There is nothing that will ruin a truck faster IMHO.

Cool

I think the only F150 that can plow are the 7700's. Mine has a front GAWR of 4150 for plow use. It looks like the only difference would be the torsion bars, which are longer and bigger in diameter. The tires are D rated also, that couldn't hurt.

I totally agree. You'll cringe everytime you hit a chug hole.

And honestly, don't look for a good ride out of a plow truck.

I agree that you should find an old F250 or something like that, but if you want to use your truck...I agree with 7700SC4X4. You'll want the 7700 GVWR. They work better. You'll probably have front suspension probelms with the current package. You might look into conversion kits. (If they make them.)

Hope this helps.

i have a 71/2 foot welstern poly plow on my truck. After one season i dont have any problems it seemed to push well but i dont do major accounts. Now saying that i just noticed today that my sway bar is disconnected at both ends. My truck seems to handle fine so i dont know if i broke the bolts plowing or not.
