I didnt even have it a week and had it loaded down with scrap and the inside of the bed was pretty well on its way to primer colored. Lets get some banter started on this.

I agree with you. I mean, I take care of my truck.. wash\wax it etc.... but I am not scared to get it dirty or use it like a truck. The first weekend I had my truck I took it to a gravel pit and had 3/4 ton of stone loaded in the back of it.

Yea I have to agree with you guys on this one. I have a 94 I6 XL and its been a work truck all it life. I used to be in the refrigeration business and had the thing covered in tool boxes and always loaded up. Since I've been in the Computer business now the boxes came off and its like driving a different truck. It still does its share of hauling though. I've been rebuilding my gravel driveway lately. And its been loaded every weekend with crushed limestone. I've recently started to rebuild her into a daily driver and its going pretty well. But she still get down and dirty when she needs to. I still do some residential ac work and I am constantly hauling something for the farm. Its a truck and thats what she is built for. I'd say that of the 330,000, 95% of those were working truck miles. Now I'm so used to driving it I'm kind of "restoring" it. New wheels(steel), new interior(recovering my seat and replacing the floor mat) and new paint. I have no qualms about loading her for a job though.
WOW, 330,000+ miles? That's awesome..... I hope to get to 300,000 miles on my truck. I was in the same boat when I bought mine new in 02'. I used to work at a Carpenter (co-workers called my truck the "girl-scout package" cause it had an extended cab, short bed, and XLT) but was not worried about using it to haul stuff. I too switched to the IT field so I took off my weather-guard diamond plate boxes and sold them. I no longer use mine as a daily driver due to my commute but the truck still sees many trips to the dump, lumber yard, etc. and does a fine job at pulling the boats.
Ialso have the the extended cab"girl scout package", with leather. I take a pretty good ribbing but im also the first to use my truck when something needs done. Irecently had 46 treated 2 by 10 by 10s in her and she pulled like a champ. Also had her loaded down with hay and pulling the full wagon. Going slow mind you. I recently bought this truck after our second kid and previously had a 2003 f250 standard cab and was worried when I bought this truck that it wouldnt proform, but have been surprised.
I never really get to use my truck like a work truck I mainly bought it to haul my dirtbike and stuff like that. I did have a month or two where I put in those real estate signs, the big ones built out of 4x4's so now the top of my tailgate is either white or yellow depending on where ya look at it. I also hauled a refridgerator out of Tera Lynn Grants house not to long ago.
One of my favorite "newer" F-150 commercials is the one where they two guys are throwing concrete in the back of this new FX4, clearly not worried about damage to the outside of the truck... then the passenger goes to sit down in the cab and crosses one leg, scuffing some mudd on the dash in the guys truck, he says. "HEY! don't mess up my new truck" or something along those lines..
Its a 30 thousand dollar machine, so if you scratch the outside, put a dent in it, or get stains all over Im going to run you over... I dont want it to look like a pos or that I dont care about my rig, but it still gets worked like you guys couldnt imagine [Farm truck...and thats not just haulin feed sacks or some cr@p].
Mind you, its not working all the time since it is my DD though also.

I personally dont freak out if my truck gets a little scratch on it, but at the same time we all have a lot of money invested in our trucks ($30,000+ in many cases), so you want to keep it looking as nice as possible for as long as possible.
I use my truck as a truck. For me its not about whats "cool" or having a status symbol or having the biggest vehicle around. For me its about having a truck because I need a truck. I use my truck for hauling my snowmobile and for hauling firewood (I heat my home almost exclusively with wood).
Id actually rathar be driving a Fusion or a 500/Taurus (smoother ride, better cornering and better gas milage) but then what am I going to do when I need to haul something that doesnt fit in the trunk? Not to mention the fact that the towing rating for any of those cars is pretty much nonexistent!

I under stand and agree with you. The kind of guys Im talking about are the ones you see at the lumber yard getting a sheet of plywood and put a blanket down uderneath. Ill tell you that is strange. One reson I dont mind my bed scratched up is so I dont slip when it is wet, Im clumbsy enough on my own. get it a little dirty, scratched inside and you are good to go. While Im not a big waxer I do like to keep my truck clean.
I use my truck like a truck. When I wash it the doors come open and the floor gets washed and hosed at the same time. No carpet for me. I do like to keep it looking good but if getting to a fishing hole means rubbing a few limbs on an overgrown trail then the fishing takes precedence. If the limbs are too big I might bring a chainsaw the next time but it won't stop me the first time. The bed is made to haul stuff which is the only reason I have a truck.
I have nothing against folks that like to pimp their ride and keep it immaculate. I would love to do the same but could only tolerate doing so if it was a second vehicle I didn't have to use for normal life.
