F-150 HD gas mileage

For those with the 2004+ F-150 with the heavy duty package, what kind of gas mileage are you getting? My S-cab longbed gets consistent 11 mpg with a mix of like 60/40 city/highway and just wondering if that seems up to be the norm.

A programer will help you out. FWIW I got better mpg after 10k miles. I dont know how many miles you have on your truck.

I'm getting around 15 now with the changes I made and I have the same truck(2005). It used to get only 11mpg like you are now! So I would say that is the norm for these trucks w/out any mods done to it. Hey slim, have you looked for any aftermarket rims for your truck yet?

What should be expected out of the 09' HD with the new motor revisions, and 6 speed transmisions.

11 scares the heck out me, I am looking at converting 2 of my 06' F250 6.0 PS diesel reg cab long bed delivery trucks with lift gates, over to the new 09' F150 HDs with lift gates. I am getting about 16mpg out of my diesel fleet of F250s, I was hoping for something similar with these Gas F150s now that they are getting 6 speed auto's. The new diesel psds are not getting near the mileage as my 6.0s and they cost a heck of lot more now, so I am thinking same payload caps and 10-12 grand less money, and they burn a lot cheaper fuel to boot. The cost advantage is now gone for diesel, with retarded epa regs forcing the cost way up on the motors, and the ultra low sulfur fuel as well, the advantage is just gone, if you really didn't just have to have the power for the application.

I have an 08 F-150 XL STD cab long bed. no mods no lift gate stock struck. Plain white work truck. 4.6 Auto has a towing package. I get 19 to 20 on the highway driving it like an old man.

But is it the heavy duty payload package? I think not since yours is a reg. cab. No offense, but there's no comparing the two models. I am jealous of your mileage though!

I don't think regular cab has anything to do with rather its a HD, the fact its not a 5.4 would be though. I beleave the HD payload pkg is available in both Regular cabs and extended cabs with 8 foot beds.
