one thing I never liked about the F150 is the large hole in the frame just in front of the rear spring hangers, seems to me that this will cause a problem in later years when hauling alot of weight... I have a 3 Car hauler trailer and they pretty well killed my 99 F150, I had 1 ton airbags on it, but it screwed the tranny, and engine after 2 years, now i have a F350 Diesel

I only see round holes in chasis. round holes at a small to moderate size do nothing to weaken a steel beam. square holes on the other hand would present changes in a beam.

PS looked at your gallery nice red trucks! your 99 xlt looks far from beat up. I do however wish I bought a 250 series or better pickup. Since I have this one my mission is to use it up and kill it before getting a new one. my truck is a work truck but my trailers take the abuse of tools and cargo now.

I want to get 200,000 miles on it before replacing....I have 48,000 and still is in good shape see my gallery http://www.f150online.com/galleries/....cfm?gnum=2890

Cool

Sorry, but your truck probably won't make 100K if you gross 15,500 on a regular basis. Once in a blue moon maybe, but I'll bet you are about 3K over weight. What is the tounge weight on that trailer?

Don't know the tongue weight but I know my 1998 expedtion has trouble with my trailers(back end squats). I would say that 98% of the time I have one of my trailers hitched to my pickup. most loads I carry scale out at around 10,000 pounds GVW(pickup, trailer, load conbined) . soil, gravel, concreate are the heavy loads that scale out over 10,000 lbs GVW My truck does have 3300 lb spring helpers and electric brakes.
