New Tires! 305/70/17 Wrangler MT/R's

Hey all!

First post here! Just got my '02 f150 screw xlt with fx4 package a few days ago. Awesome truck - but the tires are wayyy too small

Ordered some 305/70/17 Wrangler MT/R's - from what I have read these will fit on my stock rims, corrrect? (Looking for some reassurance here! )

Superchip, AF1, cervini hood also on order

Thanks for the replies - Ill find out when I ge tthem on...probably next week or so - ordered from tirerack.

From what I have been reading, I shouldnt have to do a lift until I try 35" tires, 33's should be fine... thanks!

That's cool. Now there's ProComp and Goodyear. Wonder when BFG is gonna come out with a 305/70/17 tire?

Yahh that would have been my number 1 choice....but alas, no 305s

Another question: how loud are the MT tires on the road, ive read differing opions on them. am I going to be deafened on the highway? hehe

Sorry, don't have the MTR's. I got the ProComp Mud's and they're not really loud at all. There is a slight drone, but my exhaust is louder.

spytech,

I've owned several sets of bfg muds and am on my first set of mt/r's. The mt/r is every bit as good as the bfg. IMO it goes through mud better and is much better on the road. Not even close to as loud. People are saying the new bfg is better on the road. I haven't been around any yet, but can say that after about 10,000 miles they were loud. I've got over 20,000 on the mt/r and they still aren't as loud as the bfg was new.

You should be very happy with the GY. My next set will probably be 285's. That's if I get the gear change. Good luck, Rich.

Just mounted 33/12.5/17 pro comp mud terrians a few days ago on factory 7.5" rims. They fit fine with no rubbing so far, although I had already tweaked the torsion bars a long time ago. They are louder than factory around town, but we did not use the truck on the highway yet. On these rims the tread width is 10" and the overall hieght is just a little over 32". There doesn't seem to be any loss of power but the test will be when I tow our 5000lb trailer next week.

By the way how much air are you all running in these mud terrians? When they mounted them they put 47lbs. It seems to hard.

you should run the same amount of pressure that ford recommends with all of your tires.

spytech and Prairie650:

Those tires look sharp. I'm going to have to get me some 305's. Spytech......have you checked to make sure you have full articulation of your front suspension. I interested because I'm getting 305's and have not messed with the torsion bars yet.

spytech:
Could you take a picture showing how far out (if any) the tire extends out from the rear well and post on your album?

The trucks do look awsome with the 305's!
Thanks
