backspacing with 265/75-16 on a 92 F150

I have decided to go with a 32" tire on my non lifted 1992 F150 4x4...
I do not want a very wide tire, so the 265/75-16 looks good to me (32" x 10").

I have to get new wheels anyway, my stock 15x6 can't take any larger tire than they already have, so...

The only backspacing options that I have seen for the American Racing 767 (black steel wheels) that I have seen are:

16x8 with 4.25" backspacing
16x7 with 4" backspacing

a 265/75-16 tire will go on either rim, I am thinking that the 16x7 will give me a little more clearance, but I need some assurance.

thanks,
Matt

The 1/4" will not make much of a clearance differance either way.

If you are going to buy rims, go with the 16"x8"s You will have a much broader tire size selection than the 16"x7", especially in larger sizes. If you ever sold them someday, the 16x8's would also be easier to sell.

I have LT265/75R16's on stock 16x7 wheels. This tire size will look a little "beefier" on 7" wide wheels, but the tread will sit flatter (better) on the 8"wide wheel. The 8" wide wheel will just give you more choices for future flexibility.
