all 4x4 f-150's have the same tire size, engine size has nothing to do with it. but most people start with 35'' tires when they have a 3" lift and go up from there. personally, if i got a lift i wouldnt go anything smalller than 35'', b/c a f-150 w/ no lift already has a bunch of space for 33''s and such, so go w/ 35 or 37 or somethin.

I have had a big probelm deciding how to go about lifting my 03 4.2. i have read alot about the gearin being really high, people seem to talk about regearing even for 33's. so i really want to hear from someone who knows if you can even put only 33's without regearing and come out not hurting the truck too bad? but as far as the on stock rims as you are talkin about, the biggest tire i could find that fit a 7.5 inch wide rim was a 305/70/17...witch is a 33. somethin ' tire. I have a friend with the 5.4 and he eaisly cleared 305/70/17's by cranking the torsion bars. so if you find out anything more id love to know!
