Question tire size and gas mileage

my 994x4 v6 has 245 75r 16s on it , I am thinking of putting a set of 230s on my truck , will I see an increase or decrease in gas mileage? I am currently getting about 17mpg.

It'll change your rear end ratio some, but not a whole lot. I don't think you'll see any change one way or the other.

My truck came with 235 70 16s which will make the rear gear ratio higher so your truck will be quicker! I don't think it will change your mileage that much.

hcmq: Isn't the 7700 only available starting with the 2000 model year -- with the F-250LD being the 7700's equivalent?

How did you get a '99 7700?

My Y2K came with LT245/75R16.

Y2k actually from what I have researched it was in 99' when they replaced the 250ld with the 150 7700. I have all of the heavy duty stuff (extra leaf spring, big rad, coolers galore ect.)

But hey I could be wrong!

Peace-

Depending on driving style .... generally your highway milage would go down. Your city milage may go up. The difference would be hard to measure though. F150's look too wimpy with 235/70R16's. JMHO

Kutter,

What size tires and what gear ratio did you have originally? Did the larger tires affect your acceleration?

Thanks

hcmq: I suspect that Ford was having a challenge keeping the F-150 on the top of the charts -- and merely moved the F-250LD into the F-150's slot for the all-important sales numbers game.

Tranquility-
