Tire sizes and speedo changes
The stock tires for a '98 4X4 ORP are 275's right? So, if i upgraded my crappy Wranglers to some BFG 285's, i assume that the speedo would have to be recalibrated because the sidewall will also be taller, therefore resulting in a greater circumference/diameter. Will most tire shops do that right there in their shop? How much extra is it?
Also, how can they fit a wider tire on a stock wheel? Is that a safe thing to do? I mean, if my ORP wheels are set up for a 275 tire, then how does a 285 fit? Or maybe, the wheels can actually be adjusted?

I thought they came with 265/70/17's?
Anyway, you should be able to go to 285's on the stock wheels. I think they are 7.5" wide for the aluminum ones.
My 16" steel wheels are only 7" wide. They came with 235/70/16's on them. I put on 265/75/16's (but could go to 285's if I wanted). Increased the overall height by 2" or so and had to swap out the VSS gear. Since you have a 98, you can do the same. About a $10 part from Ford and about 10 minutes of time.
I had a 20 tooth gear stock and went to a 19 tooth gear. I found that out by someone's post awhile back that did the same tire swap as me. First, find out what tooth gear you have now. Figure out how much taller the 285/7x/17 tire is going to be and drop down one tooth or maybe even two, if it's more then 2".
