33" tires on 1992 4x4

I have the stock size tire on this truck - and they look tiny...there is a ton of room in the wheel wells.

what are your experiences with trying to fit 33" tires on a stock 92-96 4x4?

I am looking at a 33x10.50x15 or 33x9.50x15 because I know a lot of the clearance issues come from the wider 12.50 inch tires. I also want to keep the stock wheels.

I know that I can shim the front bumper out for clearance if needed..

give me your thoughts

you might be able to get away with it of you dont go any wider than 10.5. it might be close, though.

I have seen a million and one pre-97's with 31 x 10.5 (2wd and 4x4). I have also seen a number of 4x4's with 33 x 12.5 (pretty well all 4x4). As far as I know, there should be no clearance problems.

If you don't want to lift it, I think 31x10.50 (or maybe even 11.50) is the best you'll be able to do. I put a 3" body lift on my truck and my 33x12.50's still rubbed. But it only took about 2 minutes with my sawzall to cure that problem. All I had to do was cut out the inner lip of my front bumper and the black valance underneath it. Haven't had a problem since.
