will 255/85/16 fit work on factory rim backspacing?

hi all,

im getting my new SuperCrew 2wd really quickly here, prolly lot sooner than May.

but im gonna put on a 3 inch spindle lift. and my question is will the tires i want 255/85/16's(= 33X10.5) work on the factory rims.
i would like some polished pythons or sliders, but im gonna save some money right now. i know the tires will fit ON the rims, being that the stockers are 255/70s, but will the stock rims have adequate backspacing?
thanks all

All you're doing is getting a taller tire. The width will be the same. Basically, the "255" is the width in millimeters. "85" is the aspect ratio (sidewall height) and of course, the "16" is the wheel diameter.

So, your sidewall height is going to be 85% of the width. That's why a 255/85/16 is taller then a 255/70/16. The width should be the same. I wouldn't worry with the backspacing. That only matters when you go too wide. You should be able to go to a 265 size tire with the stock 7" wide wheel.

Good Luck. Sounds like a sweet ride!
