If you have 18's 20's please read

I just posted this in the suspension forum, but wanted everyone to see it

Ok, I am torn between two rim sizes. I love the look of 20's and would really like to get some, but I dont quite make six figures and cant afford to be replacing bent rims and worn out tires all the time. So, honestly, can 20's be used on a daily driver. How many miles can you get on a set of tires, and is alignment a big issue. I also plan on either doing a 2/4 or 3/4 drop. I dont want to worry about rubbing. The reason I am afraid to go 18's is I dont want a large space left in the fender after all this work and have to put some large sidewall tires to make up for it. Some say 18's arent enough. I have looked at the gallery and seen many types of setups, but I would like to know what yall's tire/wheel setups are and your opions on ride and durability. Thanks

I had the 20's on my L for awhile. You can get them pretty cheap now as well. I used a 275/45/20 tire with my 3/4 drop and had no rubbing. You can get that tire for like $140 each. VERY CHEAP!! I went to 22's but my truck is not a daily driver. The 275 tire comes out to be alittle taller than stock, might have your speedo off by 2mph on the high side but thats a good thing!! It is also the same size tire that comes in the HD trucks...

Thanks for the input ICULOKN, are those the 20's or 22's in the pic, my truck is silver like that. Not sure if L silver is the same or not but real similar anyway. Truck looks good

i am in the same boat. i like the look of 20' but dont want my ride to suffer. i think i have desides on the american racing NOOZ chrome 18 x 8 with either a bridgestone or michelan 285/60/18, almost the same exact tire height as my stock 17's (31.5")
i have a supercrew lariat.
if you have to have 20's, tire are really not that outragious, i saw some at tirerack.com for $130, goodyears, not sure but i think the same tire that comes on the harley truck.( i might be wrong)

I have 22's on my F150

I drive my truck everyday of the week, and every weekend I drive 160 miles from Northern Maryland, to Richmond, VA. and I do fine, I dont like the gas mileage in the city, but I deal with it, the gas mileage on the highway is great, I have had my 22 inch Momo Vantage Wheels on my truck since November of 1999, and I havent taken them off even once since then.

I went with just the OEM 18" Bolt wheels because I didn't want a thin side wall. With the roads the way they are in OK, you have to do a lot of pot hole dodging and 20's or above just weren't feasable. I've got plenty of side wall and they ride is better than stock. I do rub on tight turns though. Went with 285/55/18 Michelin Pilot LTX.

99 LIGHTNING WHEELS

I GOT THE CHROME 18'S LIGHTNING WHEELS FROM THE TIRE RACK WITH SOME 285/60-18 AND I LOVE THE RIDE! I STILL CAN DRIVE THE TRUCK HARD BECAUSE OF THE THICK SIDEWALL,WITH A 20' OR ABOVE YOU NEED A THINNER TIRE. SOME OF MY FRIENDS WITH 20' HAVE TO CREEP OVER SPEED BUMPS..LOL,I JUST FLY OVER THEM!
