Best Mud Tire Contest

Ok, just for some sunday afternoon fun...seeing what everyone thought the best tire for these categories are. Remember that the tires have to be relatively Road-saavy or they do not count (SSRs will slide, but Boggers will not)...radials only, only bias plys allowed are Bajas. Ok, we can make up the rules as we go...

Mud:

Sand:

Snow:

Rock:

Ice:

Ok, post your replies...

ok, i'm going to try this again. (don't know what happened a minute ago)

mud- goodyear mt/r, I've owned many sets of mud tires in the last 20, or so years. these beat all the radial mudders i've owned. (if bias were allowed, ground hawg's get my vote, lol)

rock- again the mt/r, not because i'm a rock guy, but because the rock guys say they are great. my rock runs consist of creek beds and river banks. although they do fine on this for me, too.

sand- any extra-wide tire with mild tread. the mickey t's would get my vote here. i don't think you can get paddle tires in a radial, can ya? LOL!

snow- depends on the consistency of the snow. deep snow, i would think wide, tall and aggressive. slushy snow with a bottom, skinny and tall and less aggressive.

ice- what works best for me is an old set of studded snow tires, yep, they are radials. those 1/4" pieces of steel seem to get a pretty good hold in the ice.

have fun fellas, Rich.
