Aftermarket lug nuts

Aftermarket lug nuts
Hi, new to the forum. Sorry if this is already been discussed, but I am trying to find some aftermarket lug nuts for my 2010 F150 with stock 20" rims. I am being told that no aftermarket lug nuts have been made as they require a large bulge at the end.
Is this true? Is there any other solution than buying another set of the same crappy tin capped stock nuts from Ford dealership?
Thanks for any info.
Mike

The OEM lug nuts are terrible in design and material. I have a 2010 F150 SuperCrew with the 18" chrome clad wheels. Ford charges $7.00+ each for the nuts, though you can get almost identical ones from NAPA for $3.95. After replacing many of them, I gave in and ordered these from Gorilla on Amazon - $8.73 for a 4-pack (I ordered 6 packs). They have the Acorn Bulge 60 degree beveled bottom:

Hey Duckcall, thanks for the reply. Those are the same ones I was going to buy...they look like a perfect substitute. The only problem is the eBay add specifically said that they are not for the 20" stock rims which gave me pause. I don't see how there would be much difference between the wheel nuts on your 18" vs. my 20", but still want to be sure before ordering.
Can anyone confirm that 91107XLHT will work with the 20" stock rims on my 2010?

The Fordparts.com site lists the same part number (#1012) and size (M14) for the lug nuts for the 17" though 22" wheels, so I would deduce that they are the same in the Gorilla line. If you go to the Amazon site, they have a pop-up feature that allows you to check the fit for your vehicle. When I checked mine, the size of my wheel wasn't a factor to be checked.

I don't know about everyone else, but it is what I am using. Installed them today and they seem to fit well. I will re-torque them soon (Gorilla says after 25 miles, but I may wait to 100, rather than the standard 500 miles). FWIW, the OEM Ford lug nuts needed a 21mm deep socket because of that crappy chrome-plated tin condom covering the weak short pot metal nut underneath. The Gorilla nuts fit better in a 13/16" deep socket. BTW, the OEM tire iron is shallow enough to shear the hollow tops off of the OEM lug nuts. Great design for ensuring a steady sale of lug nuts! I now have a 13/16" deep socket and breaker bar in the truck box.

Are using them on steel wheels?

I don't know what to tell you, jjmIII. The official Ford parts web site (www.fordparts.com) lists several wheels for all 2011 F150s, but only one part number - 1012 - for the lug nut that fits all of them. That is the same part number for my Ford lug nuts and it continues through 2014, I believe, for all Ford wheels on the F150. Did you do a side-by-side comparison of the "shoulder" - the 60 degree Acorn Bulge beveled bottom - to one of the OEM lug nuts on your truck?
All I can say is that the Gorilla lug nuts that I mentioned work perfectly on my 18" chrome-clad cast aluminum wheels that had OEM part number 1012 Ford lug nuts. Those should be the same OEM sized lug nuts on your truck, but I can't confirm that by observation. I think that you may have returned the lug nuts you needed, but best of luck.
