Michelin LTX M/S 2 - Road noise too loud?
I just had Michelin LTX M/S 2 professionally installed with computer balancing, etc. I bought them because they were supposed to be very quiet on the highway, however they are really loud relative to my previous sets of tires. Is this normal?
They replaced a set of Toyo Open Country A/T that were very quiet up until they wore out and started to make road noise. The new Michelin LTX M/S 2 sound like the Toyo’s once they were worn out, only louder.
Should the Michelin LTX be so loud?
(I’ve always used the same tire size from the factory: P265/70R17)

Also, I brought them back to the place I bought them to see if they installed them wrong, but they said they’re fine and “… of course you’re going to get road noise… they’re knobby truck tires…” My problem is that I was under the impression from consumer reports and other sources that they’re supposed to be quiet highway tires.

I was just about to post I've had several sets on my Bronco and they are church mouse quiet. Ride goes to crap after a few hot summers and they ride like iron but wear like iron too. They've gone down the Continental Divide several times and handle our cactus brush of South Texas too. My only compliant is ride after being cooked in our usual hot summers.
