Best road and snow tire

Most of the reviews i've read were for the best off road and on road tire. The most offroading I do is the occasional dirt road or beach driving in the outer banks.

So what I'm looking for are your experiences for the best on road tire as far as quietness, and also very good in snow to get me to and from home and work in some sometimes severe northeast snow storms. Rain traction is also a big consideration. The sizes I'm considering are 275/65/20 or 275/70/18.

I currently have the FX4 20" with Pirelli Scorpion ATR 275/55/20, and I've read some pretty bad reviews for them in snow and rain, so I'm hoping to be prepared for this winter with new wheels and tires. The only experience I've had were Goodyear Wranglers and BFG ATs on a Tacoma, and no complaints on the BFGs except for a slight hum at highway speeds.

Tires I'm thinking about are:
BFG All Terrain
Nitto Terra Grappler
Cooper Discoverer AT3
General Grabber AT2

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

I would consider a set of Goodyear Wrangler Adventurer AT's. I had good luck with them on my last truck and just yesterday had a set of LT285/60-20E put on my 13.

For comparison - Goodyear vs Pirelli

I would take a good look at the Firestone Destination AT. It is very good for light off-roading (such as you described) performs well in snow and wet weather.
