Tire opinion poll

Looking for any personal experience feedback on these two types of tires. Nitto 420S and Toyo Proxes S/T. These are the two brands I've narrowed it down to so far. Hankook doesn't offer a tire in the size that I'm going with, or else it would be on the list as well.... The size I will be running is a 305/40/22. Please feel free to comment on ANYTHING you did or didn't like about them. Plan on ordering a set towards the end of the month. Thanks in advance for your input!

I had the Nitto 420S tires on my 2010 FX2 in 305/40/22 and enjoyed them. They handled great and were fine in the rain. My ONLY complaint (and it was minor) was that the tire coupled with 22" rims rode a little rougher than the stock wheels and tires. In other words, I could feel bumps much easier. Other than that, they were great.

Heck yeah man! Thanks for the input Duce! And the pics too. Always nice to be able to put an image together with thoughts! How did you feel about the treadwear on the Nittos? Do you happen to remember how many miles you got out of em?

Niel's truck does look good on those LTZs but I'll be sticking to the street look on this one. LOL! Now if I had an AWD, it'd be a different story!

No problem. I only had the tires on for about 35,000 miles before I traded the truck in. Honestly, they still looked darn near brand new at that point too. Not sure how many more miles than that I would have got. Probably double that easily though.

Good to hear! I have 38,000 on theses Pirelli Scorpion Zeros and they're just about toast... Sad... I've heard a lot of people that have been unhappy with them.

I already showed him that truck and the tires he's narrowed it down to aren't all terrains. Those tires are way too small for that AWD truck too, they look stupid.

Anyone else had any experience with either of these tires? Glory stories? Complaints? Any and all input is appreciated!

My 305/40/22 Yokohama Parada SpecX's that came on the truck had right around 40k on them IIRC from looking at when they were put on. And that was with me spinning the hell out of them ALL the time purposefully trying to ruin them in order to get my new wheels and tires put on haha. Still had 3 of 4 pass inspection and sold them to a guy on CL.

Yeah I've heard good things about the Spec X's as well. Leaning towards a more aggressive tread pattern for this next set. Still appreciate the input though Kent!

Have you heard of the Nexen's??? They are pretty darn good tires.. I think they have a 60,000 mile warranty. My buddy manages a tire testing facility here and the last test they did was the nexen's. He said they were under rated at 60k miles and they should be rated more along the 75 or 80k mark.

Plus they seem to have good reviews online also.

And for 146.00 a tire aint to shabby for some 22's

Check it out

75 to 80k for a cheapie set of tires?! goodness that's really good.

I don't know about "aggression" for street tires but I do think the Nittos are the coolest looking street tire I've seen. They look like drag slicks.
