I messaged you back with the more technical aspects, but a 265/65/17 would be a better option in my opinion as it falls within the TIA 3% guideline for plus sizing.

        4wd 285's not leveled.
        4wd 315's leveled.

^^ on stock wheels, if you put aftermarket wheels they will rub so you may have to do a little trimming

I have aftermarket 17x8.5 inch wheels with 265/70R17 tires on my 2WD XL w/ rear end dropped 2 inches to level it.

I also know for a fact you can fit 275/60R20's, which are 33 inches tall on a 2WD XL with the rear dropped 2 inches to level. Did this on a truck at work that belongs to Extang Tonneau Covers. They have 20x9 wheels on it. I think they stick out too far with the 9 inch wide wheels. I wouldn't go wider than 8.5 inches wide.

        Won't work on aftermarket wheels!

I wouldn't put tires that wide on stock 7.5 inch wide wheels. No way, no how. It's gonna pinch them like crazy and crown the tread, cause irregular wear in the center of the tire.

Lol Nah, it's 2wd 4.6l 3.55's NO hitch and yes I added the tow hooks for Looks. These Tires are about done with and have had them there whole life and NO irregular wear in the middle of the tread, but I thought that too since they say to have at least 8'' rim for these. Sorry I stated wrong - 3'' up front ( 2'' level spacer + Bilstein 5100 Adj Struts at 1'' = 3'') and a 2.5'' Block in the rear. Just put the Bilstein on last month and thought they were gonna be a worse ride do to adding the extra 1'' but this thing drive like it BRAND NEW! Did Ball joints and Tie rods as well too.

Aftermarket wheels might work with that lift. Just gotta be careful with offsets.

        Try this:

        2wd 265/70r17 non leveled

2wd 285/75r17---315/70r17 leveled (my opinion at least 2.5" level)
        4wd 285/70r17 non leveled
4wd 285/75r17---295/75r17---315/70r17--- leveled (same as above) looks better than 2wd

Obviously all these are on 17" rims based on XL stock rims
