31-33" tires?
|
I have a 99 Supercab 2wd that has about 1" lift in the back from an AAL and I'm putting on 1.5" spacers in the front soon. I want to beef up the tires a bit so I was wondering whats the best size tire I should run with. Can I clear 285/75/16s or should I go smaller with 275/75/16s or even 265/75/16s? I don't want to regear (have the 5.4 btw) as I only tow about 1600lbs a couple times a year. Thanks.

Since your only going up about 1.5" I would go with the 275/75/16. It's pretty close to the same height as the 285 but it's a little more narrow so you should be better when it comes to not rubbing. You might see it rub a little when hitting bumps and turning at the same time however.

I don't know what, if anything, is different between a 99' and an 08' but I run 33" (275/70/18) Red Letter General Grabbers on my 2wd. All I have is a 1.5 AS level in the front. They fit EASY. Not close to rubbing anywhere.
Just my 2 cents.

All the difference in the world. The 2 are no where near comparable.

Well I just noticed that 275/75/16s dont actually exist, so its down to the other two options. If I lift the front 2" will that allow the 285/75/16s to clear? For people that dont bother to do the math 265/75/16 are 31.8" while 285/75/16s are 32.8" in diameter.

Just to ask again, will 285/75/16s fit with 2" of lift on a 99 2wd?

Yes, 285/75-16's will fit using the OEM wheels or a 16x8 with 4.5 inches of backspacing.

Sweet. I was gonna go with 275/70-17s but if I can fit the 285s on the OEM rim that will be a lot nicer so I dont have to spend as much money at once.

Wait, if the OEM wheels are 16x7, and acording to tire rack the tire can only fit 7.5, how will they fit?

They'll be okay, you'll just need to make sure you monitor air pressure more closely and rotate them properly or you'll get increased wear on them.

With that lift the 285s will fit I'm sure of it because I had them on my 2wd truck. Without the lift they would rub on the front tho

*bump*
Also, can I run 305/70/16s, or will they rub because of the extra width?
Again 99 F150 2wd w/ 1" lift back and 2" front.
