Looking to replace my factory wheels on my 2010 F150 4x4, I'm looking to also install Bushwacker fender flares. So, my question is what offset would i need for the wheels to extend out just enough for the tire to fill the flares, I just installed 1-1/2" leveling kit on front and an add-a-leaf spring in the rear. I see many F150's with aftermarket wheels and some stick out more than others, I really want to get the offset on my new wheels correct, thanks for any help/advise. Also any help on a programmer would be nice, 5.4L Max trailer tow package, I pull a 32ft 9000lb travel trailer

skinny ones. you will be fine to do like a 4.5" to 5" of Backspacing. Mine are 4.5" of backspacing.with a 9 inch wide wheel and a 33/12.50/20 tire. Mine stuck out about a couple inches

Thats exactly what I'm looking for, Big Smokey, your pic is spot on! But, question, as I'm not a tire or wheel guy, "offsets" "backspacing" this is all french to me, when I shop online and look at wheels the add say's -12mm or -30mm or 25, this tells me zip! If I end up ordering my wheels online I'm toast cause I have no clue! But your pic is what I'm trying to achieve, and my understanding is that I have to get the offset just write, but what would that be? Sorry, about this, but the last time I bought rims for my truck was in 1986 and i just strolled down to my local tire shop and bought them, Aint like that anymore, as far as I can tell anyway.

 

its alright...i am still learning the BS and offset stuff. My wheels are -12 offset which is the same as 4.5 inches of backspacing. They in the end are the same thing. Some people convert offsets better then BS and vice versa. So you should achieve your goal with that offset. It will be a little bit less due to your tire is only 11 inches wide and mine is 12.5 wide. Still a 33 inch tire, but not as wide as mine. So there you go! There are some wheel gurus running around here also that can really set you straight ive just been lurking around long enough to be dangerous!

 

I found this a while back when i was searching for stuff also...this should get you close. A little math and you can convert the stuff

TO CONVERT OFFSET TO BACKSPACING:

For positive offset wheels: (Wheel Width +1)/2 + (offset * .03937)

For negative offset wheels: (Wheel Width +1)/2 - (offset * .03937)

So with that all being said and I understand it. What is the back spacing of the stock wheels? I am trying to do some measurements to determine if I can run a set of 35 X 12 1/2 tires with -12 off set with no or minimal rubbing on a 2007 FX4 with 2 1/2 level with AAL. Sure looks like it would work to me. Planning on 6" lift someday and don't want to have to redo wheels and tires.

Stock offset is about +40. I have seen several people on here mention rubbing issues with 35's and nothing but a leveling kit and negative offset wheel.

The thing about backspacing and offset that you have to remember is that you get completely different measurements whenever you are talking about different wheel widths.

 

So just a quick question, stock offset is a +40...would an 8 inch wide wheel with a offset of +25, and a 285 tire on it stick out much more than stock?

 

Nope not much at all. I have 8 inch wide wheels with that offset and had 285s. Pics in my album titled truck if you want to see. At work on the phone or I would link it here.
