What do you guys think?
I have been having the same dilemma. These pictures made-up my mind quick!! Veddy Nice!!!

Isn't the BFG 285/65r20 only available in a Load Range E? I thought they would ride harshly on a truck that is "only" 6000 lbs. For those with these tires, is there a non-LR-E version? If not, do they really ride better than the stock tires???

Yes they are 10ply Tires. I don't think they ride harshly at all. I don't think they make a non E rated BFG KO. They have a decent sidewall which handles bumps in the road better against the stock pirelli's . I run 45 psi(BFG recommended for the F150) which is no where near the max 80 psi where they probably would ride rough.

I have thought about this as well when I replace the tires on my '09. I have 3.55 gears, and these tires will make them the equivalent of 3.28. Wouldn't this make the truck more sluggish and more likely to hunt for a gear at highway speeds?

Yeah, but in the '09 you've got 6 speed tranny, so who cares? A lot guys do this with the 4 speed, so it's all good dude. I don't think anyone regrets it when they upgrade their tires. I know I didn't.

Hows the mileage with the oversized tire? Did you guys recalibrate your speedo to compensate for the larger tire? And lastly, could I run this size without being leveled? I do plan on leveling, just need to get tires first.

Having the six speed actually raises my concern about hunting for a gear at highway speeds. Currently I am only turning 1500 RPM at 60 MPH. I don't want the truck to drop into fifth or fourth on each hill. I know that I could have a custom tune address this if it became a problem though.

Very little rubbing. So far, it has only happened when parallel parking. And the tires are only hitting the plastic (lower) part of the bumper. If the radio's on, I don't hear it. I haven't really been "off road" yet...but I'm headed to Moab next week!
Hi,

I just got new 20" wheels and am about to have LT285/65R20/E BFG AT T/A KO tires installed on my 2004 F150 FX4 SCrew. Using load inflation tables from BFG, and formulas available on the internet and from 4WD periodicals, I calculated the appropriate tire pressure at just under 35 pounds (I'm upgrading from the stock LT275/65R18/C). May I ask what pressure you ended up using in your tires? How was the ride/wear with that pressure? Any words of wisdom about these tires? Squirrely in the rain, etc? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Can you get away with not leveling your truck having 275/65/20 bfgs? If not what size leveling kit do I need to fit these tires?

i dont think 275/65/20 will go on a stock truck..and LEVELing kit means LEVEL..so whatever it takes to get level, i believe 2 1/4 inch on those trucks

I must be completely honest here...I haven't even checked the PSI. I bought them at Discount Tire. It has stayed at whatever PSI they set them at. I considered airing down in Moab but decided against it since I have no experience with that. I'll try to check later and let you guys know. The wear has been excellent. As with any "off road" kind of tire, I think you need to be religious about rotations. And I haven't had any problems with rain...altough I don't get much rain here.

I run 275/65/20 BFG ATs without a level. Come very close, but I've never rubbed.
