Better tire: toyo a/t vs nitto terra grapplers

I'm trying to get my winter set together. I know these are supposively brothers, but yet reviews are all over the board..
Which tire is a better tire between these two. I'm looking at 285 70 17's or 295 70 17's. I prefer the 285's because they are e rated.
Opinions?
Anybody with toyo pics? I've seen lots of nittos and little on the toyos..

They're the same thing pretty much, just one has a more curved siping and a different name.

I had terragrapplers on my old F-150, and had no complaints. They look a little more aggressive than the Toyo's as far as the tread design and sidewall, but they are very similar in every other way. Just choose whichever one looks better to you, or whichever one you can get cheaper if the looks don't matter.

In my opinion after having used both the Toyo Open Country and the Terra Grappler on a previous truck I would look at what you hope to achieve.

I used my old truck as a daily driver, taking light trails to go dirt bike riding etc... To me the Toyos performed better on the trails (less traction breaking)and seemed to last longer for tread wear. The Nittos though, look MUCH better.

Both Tires were ran on a 2wd Ram 1500 pickup.

Nitto 33's on 20" Chrome Rockstars

Toyo 33's on 20" Chrome Rockstars (Sorry these are the only shots I could find with the toyos taken after my truck was deemed a total loss)

Thanks guys for all the pics and info so far!!

Its funny you guys think the terra grapplers look better. I think the opposite, lol!! But I have a set of m/ts so I guess to me less aggressiveness is alittle more appealing in a second tire set.

I just sold a set of the terra grapplers on my old rims, but I only had 175 miles on them, lol! I found new wheels and tires set and bought them a week after. I then sold my stock 18" nittos. I hate the stock fx4 wheels with a passion.. so basically i'm going with 17" instead and could not decide between the toyos and the nittos for winter. SO I figured I'd ask for some help lol!

Keep em coming!

After searching the net all over that seems to be the case from others as well. I think I made my choice here now assuming I can find the right size in stock somewhere and find a used st of ford 17" wheels and I'll be ready to go.

Thanks for the help you were a huge help!!

I think I just got sick of the 18's over the course of 3 years with my truck. I'm liking my 17's but they are polished and I need oem 17's for winter use. (i know you saw my other thread on that, lol!) My fx4's are in the classifieds now!
