New tires, need advice.

So im upgrading to bigger tires im currently at a 31.6" tall tire, 30.1 on the truck. I want something thats closer to 33". So im going to do 285/75/16 when I order my rims. I am currently stuck to three tires. Before I tell you what tires, the terrian is going to 80% road 15 % sand 5% mud. So im looking for a Sand A/T. I was thinking of ProComp A/T's, Nitto Dune Grapplers, or Super Swamper STS. Help me chose.

Heard dune grapplers are great in the sand but not good at all in wet conditions

Out of those three, I'd go with the Pro COmp Xtreme AT without a doubt.

DO NOT get the procomps. I just got them and they wont balance. Had them to 2 different shops and spent over $300 trying to get them to balance. Procomp and the place I got them from is taking their sweet ass time trying to come to a resolution. The last they said was I had to send them back for them to test before they send me new ones. Thats BS, what am I supposed to drive on in the meantime? They said it would take at least 2 weeks.

There have been lots of manufacturer's that have had that problem. Personally, I had the BFG AT T/A KO's and was less than impressed with them. Wore out at 35k and not used hard, but I didn't watch the wear on them closely enough. I really like the ProComp Xtreme A/T's and would highly recommend them.

I'm sure if I had some GOOD tires, they would be ok. Unfortunately my tires are bad and Procomps customer service sucks. They said they are not "Set up" to deal with the general public. Bull*****....if you're gonna be in business, then you need to deal with the public.

Again..DO NOT buy Procomp!!!!!

Well whatever....

I just got another email from them and they told me to take them to a third shop to get them balanced. And if that doesn't work, then I will need to buy another set of tires and then when the old ones are back and procomp has time to inspect them, then they might give me a refund.

Not my idea of good business. Never again Procomp...never again.

The Toyo's I had were awesome. I should've gotten them again

I will take this thought in, and think greatly about it. Thanks for the fairwarning. Even though my BridgeStone Duler A/T's had balencing problems.

I think that every manufacturer has let a couple of lemons get outta the factory.
Brewdude, didn't you buy them off the internet and then have them installed? You are living my nightmare about buying tires and wheels online. I can just see the local installer saying the tires are defective and the tire manufacturer saying the installer is an idiot. And in the meantime, you are left holding the bag. I hope you get this worked out.

Well when I can't find a local dealer for Procomp and the rims were at least $500 cheaper online, I think it was a pretty good decicion on my part. Also, no matter where I bought the tires, Procomp should step up and take care of the problem..Right?

Just think, if it weren't for the internet, we wouldn't be having this conversation. This world is dependant on the internet and internet business. So anyone saying they would never buy stuff online or whatever is fooling themselves. Should I go to the bank to do my banking and get charged extra fees for using the teller services when I can do the same thing online? I could go on all day, I think you see my point.

I'm just saying, Procomps customer service sucks and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. And I will never buy another Procomp product, ever.

I'm sure other tire companies have had balancing issues as well. Again, right now it's my issue and Procomp won't take care of it...

And to throw it out there, the first place that tried to balance them is the Ford dealership my brother works at and they did everything they could. Even switched the tires around on different rims to see if that would work. So I doubt they just called them junk because I didn't buy them there.
