Anyone ever have issues balancing Procomps? I have brand new 35 x 12.50 Extreme AT's. I took them to one shop and they tried to balance them with weights. They told me at least 2 tires are bad and wont balance. I called the place I bought them from and they said I had to deal with procomp. I called procomp and they said I had to deal with the place I bought them from. He did say he would send me out some paperwork to fill out but if I sent them back, I would not get a replacement until they got the tires back and tested them. Said I cant do that since its my only vehicle and I dont have any other tires to put on it. It was left at that and I haven't heard from him in over a week. In the meantime, I took it to another shop and had them balance them. He said he should be able to do it without the weights, but rather use equal inside the tires. Well, that's not working either. The truck shakes like mad at speeds above 40mph. I have $1200 worth of tires, about $250 in balancing and nobody thats willing to help. I'm not very happy.
What type of machine are they using to balance them? It sounds like to me you need to get them road force balanced. Not everyone uses that type of machine and some that have it don't know what they are doing with it. It will index the tire and rim so that not as much weight is needed.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think the first shop road forced them. I couldn't believe the amount of weight they had on them. Even the ones that were kind of balanced had a ton of weight on them.
The second shop is a pretty big shop and has some pretty new equipment. So it's not a little mom and pop place. I'm not exactly sure how they balanced them there. But he said any time he's used equal, the tires balance fine.
I just talked to a guy at the place I bought them. He said he is calling procomp to see what to do. I told him I think I may want to send them back and get a different tire.
I had a similar situation with my tires that I ordered online. First shop did their best but didn't have the road force machine. Second used the road force but did not know what they were doing. They told me all four tires were out of spec and I needed to send them back which made me suspicious. Third shop had the road force machine and new how to use it. They indexed the tire and rim, my understanding of this is basically the high spots on the tire and rim are made to offset so not as much weight is needed, by spinning the tire on the rim. Tires ride fine now.

I'm gonna stop at the second shop on my way home from work today and talk to them to see exactly how they did it. I like the look of these tires so i would like to keep them. But I can't deal with having a problem with them day after day. My arms are numb by time I get to work in the morning cause it shakes so much.
Yeah mine had a bad wobble that I dealt with for about a week until I got it to the third place. Those Extreme At's are some good looking tires. Good luck!

Well just so you guys know, streetsideauto.com and ProComp SUCK!!!!!!!!!
The customer service is horrible at both places. While talking to ProComp tonight to try to come to a reasonable resolution to getting new tires, the guy Steve I was talking to just hung up on me during our conversation. He told me there was nothing procomp could or would do and that I had to deal with the place I bought them from. Streetsideauto said the only thing I could do was either send my tires back to them, they would send them to procomp for inspection and if they felt they were bad they would then send me new tires. That process takes at least 2 weeks. The jerk off Steve at Procomp actually told me to put my truck on blocks and send the tires in. My only other option at this point is to buy new tires, then send the ones I have back in and if they inspect them and find they are bad, they would then refund me, but may charge me a usage fee...WTF is wrong with these people? So now I have no idea what to do. I can't afford to buy new tires and hope they will refund me when I send mine back. It may be time to get a lawyer involved. I hate to do that, but they leave me no choice.
So moral of my story..don't but Procomp products and don't buy from streetsideauto.com.
Sorry to hear that man! This whole thing comes down to a balancing issue and it sounds so much like what I went through with mine except I didn't have such bad customer service. When I talked directly to Cooper tire they got me to the shop that knew how to do it. If there is a shop around you that handles big wheels and tires, like the 22"-26", you might want to go talk to them and see if they have or know someone who has the road force machine. I bet they have access to one someplace. I doubt all 4 of your tires are out of spec which is the only way pro comp will refund or replace them. One tire might be? If you can find a shop with that machine that knows what they are doing they can also tell you if the tire/s are out of spec.

Wow man I feel for you for sure. Thats rediculous! I can say though I have heard this same story about procomps, bfg's and coopers many many times when searching tire reviews. Maybe I just got lucky with my xterrains..
