Brake problem

Hi
I have a 2001 ford f150 supercab 4X4. When I'm coming to a stop it seems like the abs is coming on. It doesn't do it until I'm almost stopped. It does it even when I'm going real slow in dry weather. It doesn't do it all the time and the abs light is not on. I checked my brakes and they seem to be fine. Does anyone have an idea I what might be wrong?

Thanks!

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have a '05 Lariat Screw 4x4. I have no idea what is wrong. I am probably going to have it looked at soon. Will let you know what I find out!

go back to the main page on the "wheels, tires n brakes" area.

look for my thread about the brake shudder issue.

i had the same problem.

from my research i learned it could be quite a few things. warped rotors, bad abs sensor, stuck caliper...

so i figured since alot of people were complaining about warped front rotors, i did the front first. didnt help.

turned out to be one of the slides on teh rear caliper slides had gotten corroded to the point of being extremely deformed and it got stuck inside the caliper. bad stuff.

i had to pry it out, and because my truck was down, didnt feel like hitching a ride to autozone, so i just grinded it down with the trusty grinder.

when reassembling the calipers i put a TON of grease on the slides.

when i first took them apart, the front and back calipers both were bone dry. no grease at all.

but in the end, i did the rotors and pads on all 4 wheels, and it stops like butter. my abs light is still on, but thats another story lol.

heres the key... if you feel the vibration in the seat its probably the back. in teh steering wheel its probably the front.

but it can be decieving because mine was bad and i couldnt tell if it was front or back.

good luck and keep updating the thread because alot of people search for brake issues here.
