Brand New Wagner "hats" have surface rust

Ok guys, I just spend some coin after buying my 03 SCREW for new brakes all the way around. New Rotors Front & Rear as well as new pads Front & Rear. I'm really happy with the brakes perfomance. Stops really well and solid....and I haven't even bled them yet! My problem is I have UGLY surface rust on the hats of the rotors. I have the FX4 package, so I have the nice 17" wheels. But then you see this ugly surface rust in the hats of the rotors. I've GOT to paint them with something. I was thinking silver. Do I just get the high-temp Caliper paint. Can I paint them with out removing---just tape off the area that the pads connect to as well as the caliper etc and just paint the hats? This has got to be fixed. Anyone else with Wagners have this problem???---DirtySCREW

I would take a good wire brush and knock off the excess rust, then clean the surface really well and use high temp paint. You could try silver, but I don't know how well it would cover, personally I would use a flat black. You can paint them while still on the truck, just tape and cover up everything and be extra cautious of over-spray.
