yeah its nice having tight smoothe brakes....

but i will be in iraq when my inspection expires, and if that light is on.... there gonna charge my wife all kinds of money to fix it, im sure.

i think as long as the light is off ill be ok... because if autozone cant scan abs codes with an odb scanner.... then im assuming they wont get a diagnostic of the abs system when they do the scan for inspection.

also...i know in nys they allow you up to 1 or 2 fault codes, and you can still pass... i think its 2.

so... time will tell. i guess all there is left to do is either get the abs system scanned.... or just replace both front sensors and little white gear thingies...

both of the above are known to fail, so i guess it might be preventative maitenance... kinda... but im not sure if thats it yet.

i have noticed that the abs light does not come on unless im going over 40, which leads me to believe its those gear things.

to be continued again..

UPDATE-

here we are.... 3 months later.

happy to report that the shudder issue is completely gone. no issues with the brakes at all.

only issue now is the abs light is still on, and because of it the abs system is disabled.

i havent done anything to resolve the issue, and i was actually going to schedule an appointment to get it scanned for 50 bucks... but....

then i found this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...item1c08cdf494

and this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...item4cebc328f0

apparently there is an issue with the abs module, and it can be fixed through this repair service. i imagine they just scan the software and then reload whatever information is on it, but it says it fixes the problem PERMANANTLY

so..

one of the ebay repair services offers the service for a starting bid of 25 bucks, with a 150 buy it now.

the other offers it for a 50 dollar buy it now.

i will be gone in training for 2 weeks, but i will be sending my abs unit in for reprogramming when i get back.

i will update to let you guys know if it fixes the problem. if it does, i will make a thread specific to the repair service i used, how long it took, the process involved in getting them the unit, etc... a basic review.

so stay tuned.

after reading, ive found that the common failure of our abs modules is that the it will fail and allow the pump to run all the time.

this explains exactly what was happening... the abs was causing the shuddering when braking during all conditions.

it doesnt happen anymore, so i have to assume my module has thrown a code and has disabled the abs system.

because this unit is prone to failure, and the companies who do these repairs to the modules will garuntee the work for up to 5 years, i will be getting it repaired.

if it doesnt completely solve the problem, so be it, but at least i know my common failure of the pump running all the time is now warrantied not to happen for another 5 years.
