Question 15" or 16" Rims on an '04 FX4 Scab?

I am hoping to put a lift and some new (bigger) tires on my '04 FX4 Scab this summer. I am currently running the stock 275/65/R18 setup. I have read that with the new body style f150's ('04 and up) that you cannot go with any less than a 17" wheel because of the size brakes. I anticipate going with a 35" all terrain tire. In looking at other members setups (some pre-'04), I really like the proportion of a 15" or 16" wheel with a 35" tire.

My question is would it be possible to have the brakes redone with something smaller that would enable me to go with a 15" or 16" wheel? I am thinking with the increase in cost for 17" wheels and tires compared to 15", the cost to do the brakes could offset the difference (not sure what all would be involved)?

I don't know much about trucks, maybe the brakes need to be as large as they are for a reason. Just wanted to see what everyone else thought or if anyone has done this before.

You have a big, heavy truck. It takes large, powerful brakes to stop it. Also, if you were to put smaller brakes on it, you would still have to have custom rims made in the 6x135mm bolt pattern because no one makes on smaller than 17 inches. You would be cheaper, and much, much better off to stick with a 17 inch wheel/tire combo.
